Summary
Many wireless sensor network (WSN) applications have to operate under harsh environments with high failure rates. A good WSN life estimation model will enable us to address a fundamental question, such as, how long a WSN application can operate without compromising required quality of service (QoS). In this paper, we make certain assumptions about WSN network operations that allow us to use a Markov process to produce a closed form model to answer this question and we then validate the model by running various simulations.
