Modeling and simulation languages

Orthogonal to modeling and simulation tools are modeling and simulation languages. A single tool can embrace multiple languages, and a language can be realized by different tools. The choice of language for a specific model-based design (and therefore the tool that supports that design paradigm) depends on the nature and the interesting aspects of the system to be modeled. Languages that reflect system behavior and thus can be used to create models for simulation include actor-oriented languages, state machines, activity diagrams, DEVS, Petri nets, event graphs and so on.

The modeling and simulation languages forum aims to facilitate the in-depth discussion on advanced modeling and simulation languages and their practical applications.

Topics include but are not limited to:

* New modeling and simulation languages * Applications for existing languages * Languages for distributed real-time simulation * Language enhancements * Model sharing and transformation across tools * Survey and comparison between languages * Implementation and performance assessment
