Jesús M. de la Cruz- Short Curriculum Vitae

Jesús M. de la Cruz was educated at the Physics Science Faculty in Complutense University, where he received the M. Sc. and  Ph.D. in Physics in 1979 and 1984, respectively.

From 1985 to 1990 he held teaching appointments at Complutense University and at the UNED (Open University of Spain). From 1990 to 1992 he joined the Department of Electronics in Cantabria University of Santander.  In October 1992 he joined the Department of Computer Architecture and Automatic Control in Complutense University of Madrid where he is currently a Professor. He has been Dean of the Department from 1997 to 2001 and currently he is the head of the Automatic Control and Robotics GroupHe has directed various research and development projects with public funding and also in cooperation with industry (AIRBUS, EADS-CASA, INDRA, ENAGAS, REPSOL-YPF, BAZÁN, COFARES,  and others).

His interest covers broad aspects of automatic control and its applications, real time control, optimization, statistical learning, and robotics. He has contributed to six books. He has supervised 13 Ph.D. students and numerous M.Sc. students.

He is a member of the IEEE and of CEA. He has been Chair of the Spanish Chapter of the IEEE Ocean Engineering Society.

He is married to Carmen Martín, and they have two children, Jesús and Irene. His personal interests include reading history and science, hiking, sailing, cycling and playing tennis.
