interest covers broad aspects of automatic control and its applications, real time control, optimization, statistical
learning, and robotics. He has contributed to six books. He has supervised 13 Ph.D. students and
numerous M.Sc. students.
He is a member of the IEEE
and of CEA. He has been Chair of the Spanish Chapter of the IEEE Ocean
Engineering Society.
He is married to Carmen Martín, and they have two children, Jesús
and Irene. His personal interests include reading history and science, hiking, sailing, cycling and playing tennis.
